1 Warming-up
How
do you exercise to stay healthy?
e.g.
running, practicing tai chi
Step 2 Scanning
Choose the one which best describes the
change in the author’s attitudes.
Step 3 The teacher has students read
the passage again. Then encourages students to find out an adjective to
reflect the author’s attitudes in different periods with the help of Graph D
and give reasons.

4 Practice : tell what effects tai
chi have on the author
1) have a positive effect on me physically and
mentally
2) improved balance and flexibility
3) do more difficult moves
4) sleep better
5) more energetic
6) relax my mind and stay cool

Step 5 The teacher has
students read Paragraph 4 on Page 26 and find out the essence of tai chi.
Step 6 Group work
How do you
understand “There is no shadow without light.” Can you make up more such
sentences to explain the unity of opposites?

Step 7 Group work
Suppose our
school wants to choose 3 sports as optional courses(選修課). You
have 2 minutes to persuade the headmaster to include tai chi. Express
